Android Phone Can Be Used as a Supercomputer

When you hear 'supercomputer' and 'small' in the same sentence, you likely wonder how small a room are they talking about. However, when the folks at MIT and Texas Advanced Computing Center say small, they mean small as in pocket-sized.

Changing iPhoto Library location

I recently bought a MacBook. I then started to copy my photos onto it and realized that if I imported all my photos over, it would take up considerable space (23.5 GB) for the originals itself. The reason I wanted my photos was so I could edit them and try out some enhancement techniques.

Then I decided to move my photo library to a 100 GB external hard drive. But wait, there is no option to move the iPhoto library to a new location.

Stumbled across this article. Very helpful and simple.
Just copy over the original library from /Users/<...>/Pictures to the new location and then delete the default library.

When you launch iPhoto again, it will give you an option to create a new library or choose an existing one.

Enjoy...

Pidgin and Gtalk

I came across Pidgin couple of months ago. I set it up for use with MSN, Yahoo, GTalk, and SameTime. Worked fine for a month or so.

Then one fine day, it stopped connecting to my Google account. Searched a lot of places and finally found this useful info.

On the account screen, select the following..
Protocol: XMPP
Username: Your Google ID
Domain: gmail.com
Password: Your google password.

Next, click on the advanced tab and change the following..
Require SSL/TLS: Checked
Force old(port 5223) SSL: Checked
Connect Port: 443

Everything works great now.
